Most of our bicycles and e-bikes come to us as lease returns from JobRad. This means they’ve been ridden for a maximum of three years—often even less. The big advantage: these bikes are usually in excellent condition and have very few miles on them.

All of our bicycles are one-of-a-kind. They are professionally reconditioned and refurbished. After a thorough inspection, wear-and-tear parts are replaced as needed and any necessary repairs are made. Finally, each bike is thoroughly cleaned.

All bicycles come with pedals—all e-bikes naturally include a charger and battery keys as listed in the offer, and bikes with electronic shifting come with the appropriate charger. Documents such as the original invoice, user manual, or service booklets are not included in the scope of delivery. In addition, the scope of delivery includes everything shown in the photos in the respective listing. Additional accessories such as displays, racks, bottle holders, fenders, or similar items that are not shown in the respective product photos cannot be provided by us. Please note that our offers may differ from the standard equipment of the respective new bike.

If you plan to spend more time on paved roads than on unpaved trails during your multi-day tour, we recommend a gravel bike. It’ll let you cover a lot of ground quickly. Gravel bikes handle minor bumps with ease.

If you’d rather explore more remote areas and spend more time off-road, a hardtail mountain bike is a better choice.

Full-suspension bikes are slightly heavier than hardtail MTBs due to the additional suspension. Many bike travelers also prefer to ride bikes with as simple a setup as possible, one that’s less prone to breakdowns. For this reason, full-suspension bikes are often not the top choice for multi-day tours.

E-bikes are significantly heavier due to their batteries. Additionally, after a long day on the bike, you need the ability to conveniently recharge the battery. For this reason, they are generally not suitable for multi-day tours far from civilization.

If you’re certain you’ll be riding mostly on paved surfaces, you might also consider a trekking bike, as they’re well-suited for carrying luggage. However, because of the more comfortable riding position, most people will cover shorter daily distances on a trekking bike than on a sporty gravel bike.

Your bike needs to be the right fit for you. It all starts with choosing the right frame size for your height. Especially on multi-day tours, you need to be able to ride comfortably for long periods of time. That’s why a comfortable riding position is essential. Your bike also needs to be sturdy and equipped with high-quality, reliable components. Depending on the length and type of your multi-day tour, your bike will have to carry quite a bit of gear for you. You don’t want to end up stranded in the middle of nowhere because of cheap materials. The condition of the terrain often can’t be fully predicted in advance. A certain degree of off-road capability, provided by a suspension fork or at least suspension tires, ensures sufficient flexibility and is therefore often an advantage.

Every bike is inspected and serviced by our mechanics according to strict quality standards. Worn parts are replaced with new, brand-name parts. You’ll receive a bike that’s in perfect working order and ready to ride right away — including a 14-day test ride and free returns if it doesn’t work out.

That depends both on the specific bike and on the rack you want to install. The most common mounting options are on the rear wheel axle or on the seat stay.

Of course, this depends on many factors, such as bike maintenance and riding habits. However, our refurbishment process lays the groundwork for bringing a bike as close as possible to the condition and performance of a comparable new bike. That said, we generally recommend starting with shorter distances and then gradually working your way up to longer ones.

A gravel bike is designed to provide both good traction on loose surfaces and fast speeds on asphalt.
